A lovely Mediterranean-themed brunch was provided by Liberty Choice Market and two Shop Local partners, Leotah's Cafe and Soup Kitchen. With over 50 attendees joining us on a beautiful Sunday morning, we provided a detailed update of the Kensington Community Food Co-op to its members as well as the Circle of Hope community.
KCFC founding member and president Lena Helen shared the progress and plan of the co-op, provided information detailing our financial status as well as our growing membership, and addressed the million-dollar question about where the grocery store could be!
KCFC member and Fundraising Coordinator Amaryllis Rivera also expressed how members and the community can help further our efforts through their involvement in the co-op.
Not only did people learn more about the structure of co-ops, but they also learned why it is important to bring one to the Kensington area, what our plans are for the future, and how members can help us reach our mission of opening and operating a grocery store in our area!
We really are moving forward! Here are a few reasons we're excited:
Continued investments in the co-op. We are thrilled to have welcomed SIX NEW KCFC MEMBERS on Sunday!
We have a planning committee in place, and it is actively looking for a building site!
We are just a few investments away from hitting our 300 Member Mark (Editor's note: since posting this, we passed 300!)
