Halloween Events in Northern LiBOOties!

What do our NoLibs neighbors have planned for Halloween? Find out here!

Northern Liberties knows how to do Halloween! There are many spirited events in the hood planned for late October and early November. Let’s do a rundown.

Spooky Garden is called that all year long, which hints at the significance of Halloween in this pocket garden, tucked into the middle of the block at 1116 N. 4th Street. Garden Coordinator and KCFC Member/Owner, Linda Conley, leads a team of friends and neighbors, who turn the garden into a fun and creepy tour of the peculiar every October 31. Sixteen hundreed ghosts and goblins visited Spooky Garden last year. You can join them this Halloween between 6 and 9pm. Admission is free, though donations, to perpetuate the weirdness, are accepted. (http://www.nlna.org/spooky-garden-2015-halloween-night/)

The next morning, Sunday, November 1, Hound-o-ween will be celebrated at Orianna Hill Dog Park, 910 Orianna Street, from 11am to 1pm. While competition is open only to Orianna Hill registered member dogs, you can watch them compete for costume prizes for the funniest, scariest, cutest and best overall costumes. (http://www.nlna.org/hound-o-ween-doggie-costume-contest-sun-nov-1/)

Once the dogs have had their day, you can head across the street to Liberty Lands Park, on the 900 block of North 3rd St., where the 17th Annual Liberty Lands Fall Fest takes place from 1-4pm. You'll find kid friendly entertainment, crafts and hayrides. A costume parade gets started at 1pm. Admission is free, though a small donation is requested for crafts. Finally, on First Friday, November 6, NLArts will host an Evening of Shadows, Cider and Film, a kid’s workshop, at the Northern Liberties Community Center, 700 N. 3rd Street, from 6 to 8:30pm. This event is open to kids from 5 to 12, and will include shadow dancing, puppets and stories.  There will be a demonstration of cider making and pizza! The cost is $25 per child, and $15 for siblings. (http://www.nlna.org/nlarts-an-evening-of-shadows-cider-and-film/)

We hope you found something in there to help you get your creep on.  Have an eerie and unsettling Halloween!
