It's Board Election Season! Nominate Yourself!

Help make history happen and join the leadership team of the first food co-op to open in Philadelphia in 40 years! Please consider nominating yourself or someone else for the KCFC Board.

The mission, vision and operation of cooperatives are governed through a Board of Directors voted by the members. The Board of Directors serves the interests of the members-owners as a whole. The establishment of strong Board Governance is crucial during this time of securing the financing we will need to build out our store. Strong governance also enables us to successfully define the roles, responsibilities and expectations for hiring our future General Manager. All Directors are committed to educating themselves on the economic impact of cooperatives, and the needs and desires of our members and the community as they relate to our mission, vision and values.

What do you need to do?

  1. Complete Board Candidate Packet: If you are nominating yourself for the board, please complete the application by April 30 via email, to Caiti Rothenberg at info@kcfc.coop. If you're nominating someone else, please forward the application to that nominee and let us know via email.
  2. Attend our May 12 Board Meeting: Upon receipt of your application, we will send you an email confirmation officially as running in the elections and information about candidate presentations at the May 14 General Membership Meeting. Attendance is not required, but is strongly encouraged.
  3. Attend the May 14 General Membership Meeting: Give a short pitch about you and why you want to be a board member (Don't worry, we'll guide you through the process.) This is also not required, but strongly encouraged—and will be lots of fun!

In the meantime, we encourage you to attend the Board Coffee Klatch on Sunday, April 17, from 10am to noon at the site. Meet current board members, ask questions, eat bagels and tour the site. More info here.

With gratitude for your consideration, we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

KCFC Board of Directors

Kensington Community Food Co-op will sustain a thriving, healthy community and environment, a vibrant cooperative economy, an active and engaged membership and a community educated in social, economic and food justice.   —KCFC Ends Statement
